

DonnyBrooke Fight Promotions returned to Barre, Vermont, this past weekend with another exciting card, Battle at Barre 15. The event was lined with fighters from across the East Coast, showcasing diverse talent and fierce competition, with participants hailing from as far south as Virginia and as far north as Maine.

DBFP opened doors at 6pm, welcoming a diverse crowd of fans who had traveled across the east coast as well to see this amazing line up of fighters, each hoping to witness history in the making. The atmosphere was electric with excitement as supporters mingled, sharing their predictions and favorite fighter stories, while the aroma of food from nearby stalls filled the air.

Host and announcer Justin T. Manning opened the event with his unique charm and amazing energy at 7pm with early prelims that did not disappoint, showcasing intense matchups that thrilled the audience and set the stage for the main event.

Battle at Barre 15 Card

Preliminary Card
185 MMA Brett Martin v Derek Menuier
- Round 1: Both begin going hard in the first round. Brett pins Derek against the cage, with a lot of clenching occurring. Brett tries to get Derek’s leg to flip, but canโt quite seem to get a grip, with both fighters go down in the process. Both fighters proceeded to hold their own well. Both fighters get back up on their feet, with Derek still pinned against cage. Derek gets Brett’s leg completely gripped, but Derek will not let him win without a fight. Brett tries to gain control on the ground, with Derek evading advances very well. Brett finally gets a good grip on Derek and manages to slam him to the ground. Groundwork continues until the end of the round.
- Round 2: Derek delivers a couple of body kicks at beginning of round, but Brett quickly gets Derek back down on to the ground and pinned against cage. Fighters continue wrestling on ground until Derek gets back up on to his feet. Brett puts all of his weight against Derek and gets him back on to ground. Both fighters get back up on their feet, and Brett gets some good knees in.
- Round 3: Derek goes in hard beginning the 3rd round. Of course, both fighters end up on the ground again, with Derek pinned against the cage. Brett clearly takes control of the groundwork as Derek struggles to get out of his grip.
Winner: Brett by unanimous decision.
135 Muay Thai Aiden Dobo v Qasim Abdulla
- Round 1: Qasim pins Aiden against the cage early on and starts pummeling him with combos and kicks. Aiden fights back and gets away from cage wall. Qasim advances very aggressively, but Aiden continues standing his ground. Qasim has some pretty powerful jabs, but not making contact on all of them. Aiden delivers some good body kicks.
- Round 2: Qasim comes at Aiden with a combo, but he evades them well, causing Qasim to exhaust unnecessary energy. Aiden is holding his own well despite Qasim going all in. Qasim blocks a head kick very smoothly, with both fighters laser focused. Aiden seems to be relying on kicks, and Qasim on his powerful combos. This seems like a pretty even fight overall. Ref breaks up a clench and the fight continues. Qasim delivers a great hook, but does not make contact.
- Round 3: Both fighters go hard for the final round, no reservations. Aiden manages to kick Qasim in the head, but Qasim recovers by quickly pinning Aiden against cage. The ref breaks up another clench. Both fighters were great with both their offense and defense. This was one of the most even matches of the night in my opinion. Qasim knocks Aiden down, but he gets back up immediately.
Winner: Aiden wins by split decision.
155 Muay Thai James Johnson v Sam Moulton
- Round 1: Fighters exchange some kicks to each other’s legs at beginning of round. James grabs Sam, and starts kneeing him, with Sam defending himself well. Fighters create some distance, and slowly start ramping up the fight again. Fighters transition into a clench delivering some good body shots. James becomes pinned against cage, but he gets a good punch to Sam’s face and was able to get off of cage. Both fighters continue with great stamina. James takes Sam down onto the ground, but he gets up quickly.
- Round 2: James catches a kick from Sam and ends up taking him down, with Sam getting back on his feet quickly again. Fighters end up in a clench again and kneeing each other in the body. Sam is very quick on his feet, while James shows a great defense. James corners Sam against the cage, with fighters in clench again. Sam goes down after a couple of knees to the gut. Ref determines if the fight can continue, and we’re given the all clear, the round continues. James goes in hard against Sam while he pins him against the cage, but he is saved by the bell.
- Round 3: Sam delivers a good body shot, but James seems unfazed. James is very focused, with Sam visibly getting tired at this point. Sam gets pinned against the cage once again, and James takes him down to the ground. Ref determines if fight can continue, and the fight is back on. James delivers some more knees to the body, and I’m pretty sure he got his opponent in the groin, and it did not appear that he was wearing a cup to make things even worse. Ref has to momentarily stop fight again because of this. James pins Sam yet again and delivers several knees to Sam’s body. Sam is trapped and has no where to go, but is saved by the bell.
Winner: James wins via unanimous decision.
170 Muay Thai Carlos Asbell v Austin Allen
-Round 1: Carlos immediately delivers 3 kicks to Austin. Austin isnโt having it and goes on the defense quickly, swinging hard. Carlos is spending a lot of energy trying to kick and not making contact, while Austinโs swings are too wide and not making contact either. Austin knocks Carlos down momentarily. Austin catches a kick from Carlos. Carlos pins Austin against cage. Fighters migrate back to center of cage. Carlos swings and it looks like it just barely grazes Austin, but knocks him flat down. Ref determines if he could continue fight, but the fight over in first round. Carlos shows camaraderie by checking on Austin to make sure ok.
Winner: Carlos wins via TKO. Carlos is only a senior in high school.
150 Kickboxing Blake Swanson v Ryan Teixeira Silva
- Round 1: Ryan begins jumping around like a spring the second he enters the ring, clearly ready to fight. Fighters bump gloves and the fight begins. Ryan delivers stern kick to Blake’s upper body. Blake is clearly on offense while Ryan remains in defense. Both fighters simultaneously get a good jab to each others face. Blake is very good at weaving advances. Blake hits Ryan, and he almost goes down but catches himself and gets back up.
- Round 2: Both fighters make great attempts, but avoid each others advances at beginning of round. Ryan was feeling out his opponent at a distance, and begins to be more aggressive this round and delivers a good shot to Blake’s face. Ryan hits Blake and knocks him down. The Ref pauses to ensure Blake can continue fighting, and the round continues. Ryan delivers a spinning kick to Blake’s gut. Blake becomes more defensive as the round proceeds.
- Round 3: Ryan goes in hard and takes Blake down yet again. The ref confirms the fight can continue, and the fight goes on. Ryan kicks Blake in the gut, and he goes down. As soon as Blake gets back up and ready to fight again, the round ends.ย
- Winner: Ryan wins by unanimous decision.

140 MMA Billy Henry v Joe Derosiers
- Round 1: Billy goes in for a take down within just a couple seconds of round beginning. Grappling ensues. Both fighters are pretty evenly skilled with their grappling/ground work. The fighters get back on their fight and Billy drops red back on to the ground. Joe struggles to get back up, and Billy keeps getting him on the ground. Joe attempts an arm-bar but is unsuccessful.
- Round 2: Immediately the round begins with Billy slamming Joe back onto the ground. Billy manages to get a few head and body shots in while controlling Joe on the ground. Joe attempts several moves, but has a difficult time maneuvering against Billyโs skilset. The majority of round two was spent on the ground.
- Round 3: Billy hits Joe with a couple of jabs at beginning of round before taking him back down on to the ground yet again. Joe tries to get in some body shots on Billy while pinned on the ground. Similar to previous rounds, Billy showcases his skill in controlling Joe on the ground.
Winner: Billy wins via unanimous decision.
155 MMA Marcos Villegas v Quinn Smith
- Round 1: This is the first major fight from Quinn, and the crowd goes wild for him during initial announcement. Quinn pins Marcos against cage within a few seconds of fight beginning. The fight is astonishingly called within roughly 30 seconds due to ref calling fight. Marcos is incapacitated, after a couple of minutes he is able to get up and return to his corner.
Winner: Quinn won round within 27 seconds via guillotine.
Main Card
Proย 170 MMA Mike Souza v Chris Perraultย
- Round 1: The crowd goes wild for Chris during introductions. Chris goes in to attack Mike, almost immediately taking the fight to the ground while Chris takes control of Mike’s back. Mike is fighting hard to stay in there. While Chris remains on top, he continues to pummel his opponents face. Mike tries to get up, but Chris will not let up and the ref calls fight in first round.
Winner: Chris wins via TKO
Pro 250 MMA Corey Norman v Edmund Collinsย
- Round 1: Edmund begins by getting a couple of kicks in. Corey gets Edmund pinned against the cage wall. Corey gets Edmund on ground, and continuously lands some head shots while he’s down. The fighters get back up to their feet, but Corey slams Edmund back down to ground and takes his back, and Corey continues to deliver head shots in the process. Both fighters get back up on their feet, but Corey picks up red, literally carries him across cage to his corner, and drops him. Corey continues to gets on top and continuously pounds him in the face. The ref calls fight, with Corey winning in round 1.
Winner: Corey via TKO
Pro 135 MMA Felipe Gunther v Tayvonne Thomas
- Round 1: Tayvonne gets Felipe on the ground in seconds and delivers a combo of massive blows. Felipe gets back up on his feet, but Tayvonne pins hime against cage wall. Felipe tries to throw Tayvonne, but canโt manage to take him down. Eventually Felipe manages to get Tayvonne on ground, and grappling ensues. Tayvonne gets out of Felipe’s mount and manages to drop him and turn the tables. Both fighters get back on feet, with seriously powerful punches being exchanged from both fighters. Felipe has Tayvonne against cage, with both seeming to be in a bit of a stand still. Felipe stomps Tayvonne’s ankles and feet while he’s pinned. Tayvonne flips his position and takes control, Felipe is now pinned against cage. Both fighters go down to ground, and the round ends.
- Round 2: Felipe is visibly bleeding at this point. Tayvonne is not letting up. Felipe delivers a spinning kick. A clench between the fighters begins and Felipe has Tayvonne pinned against the cage. However, Tayvonne is relentless, striking with immense power. Both exchange combos at the end of the round, broken up by the bell.
- Round 3: Both begin strong but miss. Tayvonne blocks a kick to face, and continues to knocks Felipe down, but he gets back up quick. As quickly as Felipe gets up, Tayvonne knocks him down again. Felipe pins Tayvonne against the cage, and end up on the ground grappling. Felipe is trying every move in the book and goes for a mean leg lock, but Tayvonne simply waits patiently and comfortably for the bell.

Winner: Tayvonne wins via unanimous decision.
Pro 155 MMA Matt Denning v Lucas Rosa
- Round 1: Lucas immediately delivers a kick to Matt’s ribs, with both fighters proceeding to go hard. The clenching begins, with Lucas pinning Matt against the cage. Lucas drops Matt to the ground, and grappling continues for quite some time. Lucas gets some head shots in while they wrestle on ground. Matt ends up tapping in round 1, with the fight going to Lucas.
Winner: Lucas via triangle submission
This event was well worth the price of admission, and fighters did not disappoint; they showcased exceptional talent and skill that left the audience at the edge of their seats.
