Located 5 minutes from the Albany International Airport, The Desmond is the perfect convention center with a hotel built around it. This strategic positioning provides convenience and accessibility for both business and leisure travelers. Visitors can seamlessly transition from their flights to the luxurious accommodations and state-of-the-art conference facilities offered by the Desmond. Additionally, the close proximity to the airport allows for efficient travel arrangements, making it an ideal choice for corporate events, conventions, and trade shows. With its blend of convenience, comfort, and functionality, the Desmond stands as a premier destination for events and accommodations near the Albany International Airport.
The intricate design of the interior areas and atriums resembles the charming exterior of a picturesque old townhome village, thus creating a truly distinctive and captivating internal environment. Every detail meticulously crafted and every element thoughtfully arranged to transport visitors to a bygone era, where the essence of community living and timeless architectural beauty intertwine to offer a truly enchanting experience. Every corner reflects the warmth of a close-knit neighborhood, while every passage embodies the charm of a historical town, making it a delightful space where the past gracefully meets the present.
We booked a duplex suite for the night, which was extremely spacious. Both floors offered a den when you walked in, with closet space and a restroom. The bottom floor had a half bath, and the top floor next to the master bedroom was a full bathroom. The duplex suite was a perfect choice for our stay, providing ample space and privacy for everyone traveling with us. The tastefully decorated den on each floor added a touch of luxury, and the closet space made it convenient to keep our belongings organized during our stay. Additionally, having a restroom on each floor was incredibly convenient, and the full bathroom adjacent to the master bedroom added an extra level of comfort. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our choice of accommodation for the night.
the interior design of the space beyond the first floor den was exquisitely planned to facilitate both comfort and practicality. The thoughtful inclusion of a bar with a mini fridge, microwave, sink, and fake drawers offers a convenient spot for preparing and enjoying refreshments. Although lacking a full kitchenette and utensils, the provision of mini fridges in both the living space and master bedroom ensures the convenience of storing essentials, especially for families. Moreover, the living space was designed with ample seating, featuring a full pull-out couch and two armchairs positioned near the door, creating a welcoming and versatile environment for relaxation and socializing.
When we arrived at the hotel and discovered the third entrance situated at the front of the building, we were pleasantly surprised. This unexpected convenience turned out to be one of the best perks of our stay. Despite its location in the old town section, using this entrance provided us with direct access to the parking lot from our room. This made the process of loading and unloading our belongings extremely quick and easy, saving us valuable time and effort. We truly appreciated this thoughtful feature, as it significantly enhanced our overall experience at the hotel.
The hotel boasts an array of impressive features that cater to the needs of business and leisure travelers alike. Among its standout offerings are the numerous conference rooms, providing ample space for professionals to convene and collaborate. Additionally, the expansive atrium space serves as a versatile setting for elegant dinners and special events, with the added allure of an amphitheater that is perfectly suited for hosting large-scale presentations. This diverse range of facilities ensures that guests have access to everything they require for successful business gatherings and memorable occasions.
The pool is interior and open year round, and while it says heated, it was certainly no hot tub. However, the gym facilities were shockingly amazing, actually being one of the nicest in house facilities we’ve seen so far!
The Desmond has an in-house restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with a full bar for guests to enjoy. For a cozy dining experience, I recommend the seating right in front of the TV by the fireplace. While the food is beautifully presented, the flavors of some dishes may not fully meet expectations. However, the delicious drinks served at the restaurant can certainly elevate the overall dining experience.
The Desmond offers an ideal location for hosting events or for a convenient layover before or after a flight from Albany International Airport. This charming hotel provides a comfortable and convenient environment, with a range of amenities to cater to both leisure and business travelers. Whether you’re attending a conference, celebrating a special occasion, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, The Desmond’s warm and inviting atmosphere, combined with its proximity to the airport, makes it an excellent choice for hosting events or enjoying a restful stay.
