Taking place at the Box Factory and hosted by The Jiu Jitsu Lounge, located in Queens, NY, Chronic Kombat returned with another action-packed card. This event featured some of the top names and Schools in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from around NYC, showcasing their incredible skills and techniques in thrilling matches that kept the audience on the edge of their seats.

Doors opened at 5 PM, and excitement buzzed through the air as eager spectators streamed in, quickly filling the venue. As they settled in, their senses were tantalized by the aromas wafting from a charming little cafรฉ just outside the main floor.

Here, fans could indulge in unique, jiu-jitsu-themed lattes, each drink artfully crafted and invitingly presented. The vibrant menu promised not just refreshments but an experience, making it the perfect prelude to an evening filled with adrenaline and competition. Did you savor one of the latte’s that packed a punch? I couldn’t help but grab the “Leg Lock Latte” along side a quesadilla, a delicious way to enjoy the event.
Fans of Chronic Kombat witnessed an exhilarating night as champions were decided with impressive victories in the women’s flyweight division, showcasing incredible skill and determination. The evening also featured thrilling matchups in the men’s 165 and 185 pound categories, ultimately leading to the highly anticipated championship matches . In addition, the men’s heavyweight championships brought a soaring level of excitement, as powerful contenders battled fiercely on the mats, demonstrating both strength and agility, culminating in a hard-fought decision that crowned the new champion. It was a night of unforgettable moments that left fans wanting more.

Robert Finley (Jiu Livre) vs Frankie Rodriguez (Unity)

Jimmy dominated for the first round off mainly from North South. Franco plays a much better second round, defending the North South successful for a decent portion of the round with an inverted guard game. Jimmy wins the 3rd with a throw after a long fought battle.

In an Iron Lung match, each competitor takes Dab rips between each match, a ritual that not only heightens the intensity of the gameplay but also helps them to relax and regroup mentally.
This unique practice adds an extra layer to the competition, as the players rely on the potent effects to enhance their focus and creativity in subsequent rounds. With the atmosphere buzzing with anticipation, the quick sessions of Dab rips become a welcomed break, allowing competitors to strategize, reflect on their performance, and prepare for the challenges that lie ahead in this exhilarating tournament.

John Romero (Chronic Kombat) vs Sammy Ruiz(SSDA & Jiu Jistu Mill)
Sammy fought off a dominanting John until overtime, showcasing his impressive endurance and skill throughout the match. The tension in the arena was palpable as both competitors pushed themselves to their limits, exchanging techniques and grappling fiercely for every inch of ground.
However, in the decisive moments of overtime, Sammy unfortunately lost to a quick takedown executed by John, which highlighted John’s strategic prowess and explosive energy.
Robert Cosme (10th Planet NYC) vs Sean Campbell (Bergen County Jiu Jitsu)

The next matchup promised to be just as thrilling, both known for their unique styles and competitive spirit. After Dan’s previous match, the crowd wasn’t sure what to anticipate from him, given the unexpected twists and turns of his last performance. He started with a similar strategy and game plan that had previously brought him some success on the mats, carefully gauging Kevin’s movements and looking for openings. However, despite his efforts, he fell short against Kevin, who had clearly studied Dan’s style and was prepared for his tactics. In a swift display of skill, Kevin finished Dan via armbar in the first round, moving him up to the semi-finals.
Richardo Jiminez vs Jimmy Gueterez
Richardo wins after an intense match up with a calf slicer from the back in the first round, showcasing his exceptional grappling skills and strategic mindset. Just as it seemed the match could go either way, Richardo expertly maneuvered into position, applying pressure that forced his opponent to tap out, securing a decisive victory and solidifying his reputation as a formidable contender in the league.

Silva finishes the match decisively via a well-executed back take and rear naked choke. The precision of his movements allowed him to maneuver behind his opponent, applying pressure and control, ultimately leading to the submission.
Anaya vs Pacheco

Pacheco performed an impressive move by submitting Anaya early in the match with a complex and unidentified leg submission technique, showcasing why Luta Livre style of grappling is such a deadly skill.
Womenโs Championship Bout
Cece Mena (10th Planet NYC) Vs Kelly Chan (Una BJJ)
Chan successfully survived the dominant Cece, showcasing remarkable resilience and technique as she defended against a buggy choke in the first round, much to the excitement of the crowd. Despite the intense pressure and aggressive grappling displayed by Cece, Chan managed to maintain her composure and utilized strategic movement to escape the precarious position. However, the tide turned in the second round when Cece, renowned for her grappling prowess, executed a series of expertly timed movements that ultimately led to a triangle choke.
After a long-fought battle where Chan demonstrated impressive defensive skills, Cece secured the submission victory, leaving both competitors exhausted and the audience in awe of the thrilling match with cece becoming the new Women’s Flyweight Champion.
Menโs Heavyweight Championship Bout
Pat Schagholi (10th Planet East Long Island) Vs Steve Joachim (Webb MMA)
One of the most anticipated match ups of the night, Pat came out working a guard plan, showcasing his strategic prowess right from the beginning. Steve, however, managed to work around it with ease, displaying impressive agility and skill as he deftly countered Pat’s moves. Each round was intensely competitive, with both fighters exchanging blows and testing each other’s limits. The match up would push the distance, as neither competitor was willing to back down, leading to an exhilarating atmosphere that had fans on the edge of their seats. As the clock wound down, the tension built, and the fight ended in overtime, where every second counted.
Ultimately, Steve Joachim pulled out the win in a major upset, shocking the audience and securing his place in the spotlight with a well-timed maneuver that clinched the victory making him the New Heavyweight Champion!
