Black Cat Cage Fights 5 proved to be as action packed as advertised , with all 14 MMA and kickboxing matches ending via submission or knockout. Refereed by Tyler Martin and sanctioned by the ISKAA, the event was held in a spacious and comfortable venue inside the Dyers County Fairgrounds, and hosted refreshments that included BBQ, nachos, hot dogs, sodas and beer.
Full of excited MMA fans, with a noticeably loud and proud percentage of them showing their support for Dogwood BJJ throughout the night, but also including teammates and friends from Wildside MMA, Bushido MMA, First Place MMA and more. It was a genuine mixing bowl of Midwest MMA Communities all coming together for a night, devoted to the sport they all knew and loved, and it showed.

Noteably, First Place MMA went undefeated throughout the night, with all three of their fighters, Zach Lozano, Priscilla Caccioti, and Peter Atencio winning their fights by TKO stoppage.
Caccioti and Miller’s fight made MMA history as Black Cat’s first ever Women’s MMA Bout.
Walker’s finish over Kratz in their Heavyweight Kickboxing contest was undoubtedly the knockout of the night.
Mason Delk’s win over the undefeated Alex Stiltner guaranteed his spot as the next contender for the 135lb belt on Black Cat’s next event.
Author’s Favorite Moments
Holt vs Atencio was one of my personal favorite matches to watch as an onlooker who had no prior knowledge of or affiliation with either fighter. Holt displayed amazing heart and discipline for a debut fighter, the back and forth between his hands and Atencio’s kicks was beautiful to watch, both fighters were dropped before the end, and Atencio’s gleaming smile in response to taking damage was most of the most memorable moments of the event for me.
Likewise, Randy Shores finish of John Green was spectacular. Shores actually knocked the mouthpiece flying out of Green’s mouth 2 consecutive times in the second round before finishing him. One of the more memorable finishes.
That being said, for me nothing compared to seeing Mason Delk’s war with Alex Stiltner. Alex did a great job of countering Mason’s kicks early in the fight, and kept the bout competitive on the feet. Meanwhile, Delk kept his composure, listened to his corner, waited, and ultimately landed one of the hardest headkicks of the night, followed by a nasty combination of punches and knees against the cage that ended the fight.
