Hammer Challenge Series heads to Webb MMA in Sewell, New Jersey, on Saturday, October 24, bringing another opportunity for regional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes to compete. Tickets start at $30, with the event scheduled for 4 p.m.
SEWELL, N.J. — Hammer Challenge Series continues its busy 2026 schedule this Saturday, October 24, bringing its submission-focused Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition to Webb Fitness & MMA in Washington Township, New Jersey.
The upcoming event marks another stop for the regional grappling promotion, which has spent the year developing rising competitors, showcasing experienced athletes and creating opportunities for grapplers across the Northeast.
Saturday’s event carries a listed start time of 4 p.m. Eastern, with general admission tickets available for $30 through Nitro Tickets.
The return to South Jersey follows an eventful September for Hammer Challenge Series. The promotion’s appearance at Hudson Fit Expo in Jersey City delivered 27 matches across four hours, producing new champions, memorable submissions and several overtime battles.

At that event, Efrain Garcia captured the 135-pound Grand Prix championship, Brandon Smith retained his 185-pound title, and Paolo D’Alessandro claimed the promotion’s inaugural 145-pound Superfight championship.

Webb MMA Brings UFC Experience to the Hammer Challenge Series
The location provides an interesting backdrop for this weekend’s grappling competition.
Webb Fitness & MMA operates under former UFC welterweight Jonavin Webb, who has transitioned his professional fighting experience into developing athletes in South Jersey.
The academy offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, no-gi grappling, wrestling-related training, mixed martial arts and striking instruction. Its coaching staff includes experienced competitors and instructors across multiple combat sports.
Hosting Hammer Challenge Series at Webb MMA connects two organizations with a shared interest in athlete development and competitive martial arts.
For competitors, events like these offer valuable opportunities to test their techniques against opponents outside their regular training environments. For spectators, they provide an up-close look at the competitive Jiu-Jitsu talent developing throughout New Jersey and neighboring states.
What Makes Hammer Challenge Series Different?
Hammer Challenge Series founder Josh Baker has built the promotion around a straightforward objective: encourage competitors to attack, pursue submissions and produce decisive results.
Rather than relying solely on traditional tournament scoring, HCS uses a submission-focused ruleset that rewards aggressive grappling and incorporates overtime procedures when competitors cannot finish during regulation.

The promotion distinguishes amateur and professional competitors by experience level, with white and blue belts generally entering amateur matches and purple, brown and black belts competing in its professional divisions.
During an August appearance on the JMA Podcast, Baker discussed his approach to matchmaking, championship development and building a regional platform where athletes can gain experience without waiting months between competitions.
He also explained how Hammer Challenge Series operates several formats, including Fight Nights, team competitions, individual superfights and Grand Prix tournaments.
Those formats have helped HCS create opportunities for both developing athletes and more experienced grapplers pursuing championship recognition.
Hammer Challenge Series Continues Developing Regional Talent
One of Hammer Challenge Series’ strengths has been its willingness to bring competitors back for additional opportunities.
Throughout 2026, JMurrayAthletics has followed numerous athletes as they progressed through HCS competition, returned from losses and pursued bigger matchups.
The promotion has also provided a platform for women’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
At HCS 33 in April, Joey Gaffin defeated Jenna Sylvester by armbar in a matchup between two returning competitors from the promotion’s previous all-female tournament.
JMurrayAthletics covered that meeting during its HCS 33 recap, highlighting the promotion’s continued investment in returning talent and competitive matchmaking.
HCS has also crowned women’s Grand Prix champions, including Randi Miley at 115 pounds in 2025.
Although the complete October 24 matchup list remains unverified, the promotion’s established roster and history of competitive matchups provide plenty of reasons for regional Jiu-Jitsu fans to follow the latest event.
With another show approaching, the spotlight returns to the athletes looking to add their names to the growing Hammer Challenge Series record books.
