American Fight Promotions returns Aug. 29 with a deep Ohio MMA card featuring Kolby McDonald vs. Tyler Talley, Wesley Armstrong vs. Israel Tshiunza, Noah Hollendonner vs. Davlat Bobokulov and a mix of experienced regional fighters and new prospects.
There is a difference between buying a ticket to watch fighters everyone already knows and buying one to discover who fight fans may be talking about next.
American Fight Promotions is offering plenty of the latter at AFP 8.
AFP returns Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, with a card currently featuring 16 matchups at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington, Ohio. The event mixes unbeaten prospects, developing amateurs, professional experience and a featherweight title fight between undefeated Kolby McDonald and surging challenger Tyler Talley. FighterTix currently lists the complete AFP 8 card and official tickets.
For regional MMA fans, that combination matters. You are not simply watching fighters protect rankings. You are watching athletes build the résumé that could eventually get them onto larger stages.
American Fight Promotions has made that developmental role a central part of its identity since launching in 2025. AFP says its events combine professional and amateur competition with a higher-end live production built around regional fighters, and the promotion recently celebrated former AFP competitor Ilimbek Akylbek Uulu earning an opportunity on The Ultimate Fighter.
AFP 8 gives the next group its opportunity.
AFP 8 Event Information: New Venue, Tickets and Start Time
One detail fans must know before traveling is that AFP 8 has changed locations.
American Fight Promotions originally announced the Aug. 29 card for the U1 Flyght Dome in Dayton. On July 20, AFP issued an official venue-change notice moving the show to the Roberts Centre, 123 Gano Road, Wilmington, Ohio 45177. AFP confirmed that previously purchased tickets remain valid at the new location. Read AFP’s official venue-change announcement here.
According to the official FighterTix event page, doors open at 4:30 p.m. and the first fight begins at 6 p.m. At publication time, general admission costs $40, reserved seating costs $65, individual VIP-table seats cost $95 and eight-seat VIP tables cost $750. The $100 ringside section is already marked sold out.
That last detail is worth noting. There are still more than two weeks before fight night, and one of the closest seating options is already gone.

For fans who cannot make the trip to Wilmington, AFP’s official website currently directs viewers to Spectation Sports through its “Watch Live!” link. Spectation has carried previous AFP events, including AFP 5 and AFP 6. However, its public upcoming-events page does not yet display AFP 8, so viewers should verify the final streaming listing closer to Aug. 29 rather than assuming access is already active.
AFP has also stated that fight announcements and additional event updates will be released through American Fight Promotions on Facebook and Instagram, making the promotion’s social channels worth checking during fight week for late changes.
Kolby McDonald vs. Tyler Talley: An Undefeated Fighter Meets a Surging Finisher
The featherweight title matchup between Kolby McDonald and Tyler Talley has the strongest combination of stakes and proven form on the current AFP 8 lineup.
FighterTix lists McDonald at 5-0 and Talley at 3-1, with the two scheduled to meet at 145 pounds in a title fight.
McDonald’s unbeaten record deserves more attention than the number alone.
According to Sherdog’s Kolby McDonald fight history, his five amateur wins include two TKOs, a rear-naked-choke submission, a split decision and a unanimous decision. In December, he defeated Trace Ricketts by unanimous decision in an AFP featherweight title fight at AFP 104.
That résumé tells us McDonald does not need one specific type of fight to win.
He has finished with strikes. He has submitted an opponent. He has gone to the scorecards twice. He has already experienced the pressure of fighting with a championship attached to the result.
Talley presents a very different problem.
The Sherdog record for Tyler Talley shows that he lost his amateur debut to Nathaniel Parker by unanimous decision in March 2025 and has not lost since. Talley followed that defeat with three consecutive victories, including back-to-back second-round TKOs over Coby Sanders and Drake Lange. The Sanders finish came through knees to the body and punches.
That progression makes Talley dangerous.
A 3-1 record does not look overwhelming until you consider what happened inside those four fights. Talley absorbed the lesson of a decision loss, returned with a decision win, then started finishing people.
McDonald also carries a significant listed height advantage. Sherdog lists him at 5-foot-11, while Talley stands 5-foot-5. That does not automatically translate into better range management, but it gives McDonald another tool Talley will need to solve while trying to close distance.
JMA Prediction: Kolby McDonald by unanimous decision
Talley may be the more dangerous fighter during extended striking exchanges, particularly if he gets inside and starts attacking the body.
McDonald gets the pick because he has already demonstrated more ways to control a fight.
He can finish, grapple or settle into a decision without abandoning his game plan. That versatility becomes especially valuable against a challenger who appears to be gaining confidence as a pressure fighter.
Expect Talley to make McDonald work. Expect him to have moments.
Over the full fight, however, McDonald’s length, experience and ability to transition between different phases should allow him to win more rounds.
Prediction: Kolby McDonald defeats Tyler Talley by unanimous decision.
This is exactly the type of regional championship matchup worth watching: an undefeated fighter who has already passed several different tests against a challenger whose finishing ability appears to be improving every time he competes.
Wesley Armstrong vs. Israel Tshiunza Has Heavyweight Chaos Written All Over It
If McDonald-Talley is the technical fight to watch, Wesley Armstrong vs. Israel Tshiunza may be the fight where looking away becomes a mistake.
FighterTix lists Armstrong at 3-1 and Tshiunza at 3-0 for their heavyweight matchup.
Armstrong has already shown an unusually varied skill set for an early-career amateur heavyweight.
His documented wins include a 21-second first-round TKO against Corbin Wiseman, a majority decision against Michael Henderson and a first-round rear-naked choke against Alfred Danso. His unbeaten run ended when Christopher Parker stopped him nine seconds into the third round of their AFP 5 heavyweight title fight in February.
That loss may actually make Armstrong more interesting heading into AFP 8.
He now knows what a championship fight feels like. More importantly, he knows what it feels like when a heavyweight fight turns against him.
Across the cage stands an opponent who has given his recent competition very little opportunity to settle in.
FighterTix lists Israel Tshiunza at 3-0. Sherdog has currently indexed two of those amateur victories, and both ended by TKO: Justin Lyons fell at 1:28 of the first round in May, while Ryan Richardson lasted until 1:55 of the second round in July.
Two heavyweights with proven finishing ability rarely need much encouragement to make things interesting.
Armstrong has the more diverse documented résumé. Tshiunza enters with the momentum and recent striking finishes.
JMA Prediction: Israel Tshiunza by second-round TKO
Armstrong’s best route may be turning this into an MMA fight rather than a heavyweight boxing match.
We already know he can take the back and submit someone. We also know he can survive long enough to win a decision.
The concern comes when Tshiunza starts landing.
His two Sherdog-indexed victories both came through strikes, and he has finished those opponents before the midpoint of the fight.
Armstrong should provide his toughest documented test yet, but Tshiunza’s recent finishing form gives him a narrow edge.
Prediction: Israel Tshiunza defeats Wesley Armstrong by second-round TKO.
This is the fight most likely to produce the kind of highlight fans immediately send to someone who missed the card.
Noah Hollendonner vs. Davlat Bobokulov May Be AFP 8’s Sleeper Fight
Do not let Noah Hollendonner vs. Davlat Bobokulov get lost beneath the championship and heavyweight storylines.
FighterTix lists Hollendonner at 5-0 and Bobokulov at 3-1 for their welterweight matchup.
Hollendonner’s unbeaten record includes useful evidence about how he responds when a fight changes.
His Sherdog history shows a 19-second first-round TKO of Braxton Garza, a first-round arm-triangle submission over Matthew Yoder, a split decision over A.J. Stengel, a unanimous decision over Geremia Brooks and a third-round TKO of Zach Binkinz in May.
That is an excellent developmental résumé.
Hollendonner has won instantly, won late and won when judges became necessary.
Bobokulov has weapons of his own.
Davlat Bobokulov’s Sherdog record shows victories by split decision, retirement and rear-naked choke. His lone defeat came when Joseph Teguia knocked him out 40 seconds into the first round in May. Bobokulov has also already competed twice under the AFP banner, defeating Keavon Thomas at AFP 102 and Brandy Crawford Jr. at AFP 5.
That creates one of the more complete matchups on AFP 8.
Both men have won on the ground. Both have won fights that lasted beyond the first round. Hollendonner brings the undefeated record, while Bobokulov brings direct familiarity with the AFP cage.
JMA Prediction: Noah Hollendonner by unanimous decision
Bobokulov’s rear-naked-choke victory makes reckless grappling a poor idea for Hollendonner.
Instead, expect Hollendonner to use his broader run of consistent results to control where the fight takes place.
He has already shown he can win close and clear decisions, which matters if Bobokulov refuses to give him the finish.
Prediction: Noah Hollendonner defeats Davlat Bobokulov by unanimous decision.
This may not be the bout receiving the loudest promotion before Aug. 29, but it could tell us the most about which welterweight is ready for a significant step forward.
Robert Presley vs. Gage Mitchell Adds Professional Experience
The bantamweight meeting between Robert Presley and Gage Mitchell also deserves attention.
FighterTix currently lists Presley at 3-1 and Mitchell at 3-3. Sherdog’s professional database has Presley at 3-1 but currently has Mitchell at 2-3, an example of the record differences that occasionally appear while regional databases update results.
What matters more for the matchup is how both men have won.
Presley’s three professional victories include two TKOs and one unanimous decision. Mitchell’s two Sherdog-indexed professional wins both came by finish—one TKO and one triangle choke.
Mitchell has also competed against Cage Fury Fighting Championships opposition, while Presley has already fought repeatedly on the Ohio regional circuit and appeared for AFP.
That makes this one of the more experienced pairings on a card filled with first- and second-fight athletes.
JMA lean: Robert Presley by decision.
Mitchell has shown enough submission ability to punish mistakes, and his recent losses have largely come against opponents capable of dragging him into longer fights. Presley gets the slight edge based on his combination of finishing ability and proven decision win.

Why AFP 8 Is Worth Seeing Live
There is a reason regional MMA remains important even when the UFC, PFL and other national organizations dominate the headlines.
Every established fighter was unknown once.
AFP 8 gives fans an opportunity to watch that development happen in real time.
Kolby McDonald is 5-0 and already owns an AFP title-fight victory. Tyler Talley has responded to the only loss of his career with three straight wins and consecutive TKOs. Israel Tshiunza arrives unbeaten with recent stoppages. Noah Hollendonner is 5-0 and has already demonstrated striking, submissions and the ability to win decisions.
Then there are the debut fighters.
Cristian Collins and Joseph Pedregon enter without a listed fight on their records. The same applies to Jayvon Hayes and Cason Holmes, Mark Lowery and Garrett Pigg, and several others currently scheduled for AFP 8.
One of them could be the fighter everyone is searching for the morning after the event.
That possibility is part of what makes regional MMA different.
You are not paying only for a recognizable name at the top of the poster. You are buying a night where almost every fight can change someone’s trajectory.
American Fight Promotions has also made the live presentation part of its pitch. AFP describes its events as combining MMA with fighter walkouts, lighting, sound and a professional production designed to make a regional show feel larger than a basic collection of fights.
With ringside already sold out, fans interested in seeing AFP 8 live may want to secure the remaining seating instead of waiting until fight week.
