Serenity on the Trails is a local race and fundraising event in Schenectady, New York. This year’s race will be taking place on Saturday, August 22nd beginning at 8:00 AM. The weather forecast is looking like a great day in the mid 70’s and some mild cloud coverage. This is a 4-mile trail run that goes through the trails of Schenectady’s own Central Park. The race will begin at 1 Fehr Avenue, Schenectady, NY. Walkers and Runners are welcome.

There are a couple of elements that make this run in particular very unique. Firstly, this race is arranged as an open time trail race which means all runners do not have to start right at 8:00 AM on the dot. If you’re running late, no worries, you can begin your timed lap any time between 8:00 AM-10:00 AM with the course closing down at 11:00 AM, so make sure you plan appropriately.

The second component, and most meaningful part of this race is that 100% of the proceeds from participants will go to Hive of Hope which is an organization based in Albany helping and supporting individuals in recovery. This race was organized to hold honor to Ellen Wisnoski, a Bayport, New York resident who lost her life too soon struggling with addiction. As a way to raise awareness, as well as raise money for local communities to support individuals in recovery, her family had decided to arrange this race.
Registration is unfortunately closed at this time, but you can still feel free to spectate the event, cheer on runners, and support an important cause.

If you would like to tune in to the even, JMurrayathletics will be live streaming the event. Go to our YouTube page or click the video link below. And if you or a loved one are also struggling with addiction, please reach out to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration free, 24/7 helpline at 1-800-662-HELP.
