The Scottish Games are held every year at the Altamont Fair Grounds, in Altamont, NY. The Scottish Games brings in thousands of people each year to share in the history and culture of the Scottish people.
The games have everything! While here, you can learn about the rich and ancient history of the Scottish people and the various clans, maybe even discover a little something about your own history!.
The games are sponsored by the nations largest competitive pipe band, the Schenectady Pipe Band, a staple at most Celtic events throughout the capital district. Alongside them they were accompanied in performance by Enter the Haggis, a popular Celtic rock band!
Our favorite events are the games themselves held at center field with local competitors and fan favorites like Carl Lewendoski taking to the field. The games featured are classic sports such as the Caber toss, Hammer throws, Shot put, Fork throw, Over head throws, Highland dance, and even a dog show!
Folks are welcome to camp the grounds during the event, and drinking is encouraged! So come down with the family, enjoy the music, stay for the beer and cheer on some local athletes!
