This Saturday, September 5 at 8:00 AM begins the 6th year of the Run 4 the River Half Marathon in Schenectady, New York hosted by a partnership with Nark running + Strength & ARE Productions . The weather is looking decent with some cloud coverage and temperatures in the low 60’s to mid 70’s.
This race will begin at the historic Mabee Farm in Pattersonville/Rotterdam Junction and will follow the Empire Trail along the Mohawk River ending at Frog Alley Brewing right in the heart of downtown Schenectady, making this a point-to point course. One of the unique aspects of this particular race is that the majority of it is downhill, often benefitting the runners pace and creating one of the quickest half marathons in New York State.

Since this event was only organized a couple years ago as a way to get people out and active during the pandemic, it has been slowly gaining notoriety with an anticipated 200-500 runners this year, all of whom will get to take in the scenic route along the river for the majority of this race.
There will be an after party of sorts for runners and the community to attend at Frog Alley Brewing. Runners will receive a free beer at the completion of their race, and there will also be live music by the local band Monkberry as well as food and a standout medal ceremony. The race organizers are also awarding up to $300 in cash prizes to the top male and female finishers, as well as any elite entries.
JMurrayAthletics will be there to live stream the event for anyone who would like to spectate along with us but cannot join. You can join us by visiting our YouTube channel or by watching the video below.
We will be posting the unofficial results, so stay tuned to see how your favorite runners did!
