FNC heavyweight champion Hatef Moeil rematches Darko Stošić in the FNC 33 main event at Arena Zagreb.
Hatef Moeil and Darko Stošić first met in 2015, long before either man became one of the most recognizable heavyweights on Europe’s regional circuit. Stošić won that night by second-round stoppage.
Eleven years later, Moeil owns the Fight Nation Championship heavyweight title, Stošić is coming off consecutive knockouts, and the rematch will headline FNC 33 on September 12 at Arena Zagreb.
The current FNC 33 card lists Moeil at 17-4 and Stošić at 23-8. It also confirms Ivan Erslan against Miran Fabjan and middleweight champion Đani Barbir against Piotr Strus, giving the promotion three fights with distinct technical and personal stakes.
What changed after the first fight
Stošić stopped Moeil with punches at 1:17 of the second round at FFC 19. The result remains recorded on Stošić’s official Final Fight Championship history.
Moeil has not lost since.
His current Tapology record shows 13 consecutive wins, including 11 knockout or TKO victories, two submissions and four decisions across his 17 career wins. He won the FNC heavyweight championship in February by submitting Ivan Vitasović 44 seconds into the fifth round.
The champion’s performance in that fight matters more than the final method. FNC’s official statistics credit Moeil with 133 landed strikes from 192 attempts and five takedowns from seven attempts before the submission. Those figures show that the 39-year-old can sustain offense deep into a championship fight rather than relying entirely on first-round power.
Moeil is listed at 6-foot-3 and 256 pounds on the FNC card. Stošić is 6-foot and 240 pounds but owns a three-inch reach advantage, 76 inches to 74.8. The champion is the larger man, yet the challenger’s reach and compact power complicate any simple size comparison.
Stošić remains the more immediate knockout threat
Stošić’s 23-8 record includes 17 knockout or TKO victories, giving him a 73.9% knockout rate across his wins. He has recorded stoppages over opponents including Michal Martínek, Matheus Scheffel, Miran Fabjan, Oli Thompson and Greg Hardy.
His most recent performance was especially revealing. Stošić accepted a major weight disparity against Hardy and still found the decisive overhand right in the third round. His official FNC profile records that knockout after a February stoppage of Thompson.
The drawback is volatility. Stošić lost a five-round decision to Ivan Vitasović in September 2025, while Moeil later defeated the same opponent with sustained wrestling and a fifth-round submission. Stošić has also been stopped by Phil De Fries and Štefan Vojčák in recent years.
That does not erase his prior victory over Moeil, but it changes the meaning of the rematch. The challenger must prove that his power can again solve a fighter who has added championship-round wrestling and has gone more than a decade without a loss.
The tactical battle
Stošić’s best work comes when he can plant his feet, compress the distance and turn short exchanges into power-punching opportunities. His reach allows him to threaten earlier than his height suggests. Moeil should not assume he can safely pressure behind size alone.
Moeil’s clearest route is accumulation. He can force Stošić to defend takedowns, carry weight in the clinch and reset repeatedly. The longer Stošić must generate power after grappling exchanges, the more the champion’s conditioning and volume should matter.
For Moeil, the danger is giving Stošić the same type of clean punching opportunity that decided their first fight. For Stošić, the danger is chasing a knockout while allowing the champion to bank control and damage.
Erslan and Fabjan have made it personal
The co-main event adds the card’s strongest current public exchange.
Erslan initially responded to Fabjan’s criticism of his boxing, wrestling and durability by arguing that he was better in every phase. In an August interview attributed to FNC, Erslan escalated the discussion by calling Fabjan an average fighter and attacking the quality of his wrestling. Fabjan answered through an Instagram Story, accepting the “average” label while disputing Erslan’s claim to world-class status. Fightroom preserved both sides of the exchange.
The interaction is more than generic promotional confidence, but it should not be exaggerated into an unsupported feud. The complete original FNC interview and Fabjan Story are no longer durably accessible, so the exchange carries moderate rather than high evidentiary confidence.
Competitively, Erslan is 15-6 and 3-0 in FNC. Fabjan is 7-5 overall and 5-3 in the promotion. FNC lists Erslan with a 10-inch reach advantage. Fabjan has repeatedly shown that he can create danger in chaotic striking exchanges, while Erslan brings the more complete record against established international competition.
Barbir faces a veteran test
Middleweight champion Đani Barbir enters at 8-1 overall and 6-0 in FNC. Piotr Strus is 17-10-2 and has considerably more professional experience.
Barbir is also nine years younger and owns a listed 17-inch reach advantage, 79 inches to 72. Strus’ experience should help him recognize traps, but Barbir’s length and unbeaten FNC record make this a difficult assignment. Their championship fight gives FNC 33 a second title story beneath the heavyweight main event.
JMA prediction
Pick: Darko Stošić by strikes
The forecast gives Stošić a 56–64% probability range, with a midpoint of 60%. Confidence tier: Pick. Official high-confidence pick: No. Estimated data completeness: 88%.
Stošić’s compact power, prior win over Moeil and consecutive 2026 knockouts give him the narrow edge. Moeil’s 13-fight streak, larger frame, takedown game and proven fifth-round endurance are substantial counters. This is not a replay of 2015, and the fight becomes increasingly favorable to the champion if he consistently forces Stošić to wrestle.
The prediction remains unchanged from the August 17 forecast. No reliable current betting benchmark was available. Data cutoff: August 24, 2026, 12:11 UTC.
How to attend FNC 33
FNC 33 takes place Saturday, September 12, at Arena Zagreb in Zagreb, Croatia. The official Entrio ticket page lists doors at 5:30 p.m. and the event at 7 p.m. local time.
Seat selection and live inventory are available through Entrio, but its public page did not expose reliable static prices during verification. Buyers should use the interactive seating map for current availability and fees. FNC also lists its official streaming platform for viewers outside Zagreb.
The heavyweight rematch is enough to carry an event. FNC 33 adds a heated regional co-main event, another championship fight and a deep supporting card. For fans following the growth of Southeast European MMA, this is one of September’s defining nights.
