The former New York Fitness Expo will return under the new name Upstate Fit Fest & Wellness Expo, taking over Schenectady’s M&T Bank Center on May 22–23, 2027.
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Fitness, nutrition and wellness businesses from across the region will gather in Schenectady when the Upstate Fit Fest & Wellness Expo takes over the M&T Bank Center on May 22 and 23, 2027.
The event previously known as the New York Fitness Expo is entering its next chapter under the new name Upstate Fit Fest & Wellness Expo. The rebranding reflects a wider focus that extends beyond traditional workouts and gym culture to include nutrition, recovery, healthy products, wellness education and community resources. Although its established Facebook page still carries the New York Fitness Expo name, current promotional materials identify the May 22–23 event at the M&T Bank Center as Upstate Fit Fest, positioning it more clearly as a regional celebration of fitness and healthier living across Upstate New York.
Organized by Swaghouse Productions, the two-day event is being promoted as one of New York’s largest fitness and wellness gatherings. Organizers expect more than 150 vendors and exhibitors, with attendance projected to surpass 5,000 people across the weekend.
The expo is designed to bring several corners of the health and fitness industry together under one roof. Promotional materials advertise fitness classes, live demonstrations, wellness professionals, healthy food options and businesses offering products and services related to exercise, recovery, nutrition and healthier living.
However, the event is not being positioned exclusively for experienced athletes or regular gym members. Organizers say the goal is to create an accessible community event for people at every stage of their fitness journey, from those looking for a place to begin to lifelong athletes searching for new training methods, products and professional resources.
“Our commitment [is] to the health of our community, emphasizing not just physical fitness, but also wellness, wellbeing, nutrition, and overall lifestyle improvements,”
organizers explained through the event’s official website.
A Major Fitness Event for the Capital Region
Hosting Upstate Fit Fest at the M&T Bank Center gives the event one of Schenectady’s newest and most visible venues.
Located at 101 Harborside Drive in the Mohawk Harbor district, the multipurpose arena opened in August 2025. It serves as the home of Union College’s men’s and women’s hockey programs while also hosting concerts, sporting events, trade shows and other regional attractions.
The waterfront location also places attendees near Rivers Casino, hotels, restaurants and other businesses surrounding Mohawk Harbor. For Schenectady, an event expected to attract thousands of attendees could provide another opportunity to bring visitors into the city while showcasing the growing local fitness and wellness community.
Vendors and Wellness Businesses Invited to Apply
Vendor applications are now open for gyms, trainers, wellness professionals, food and beverage companies, recovery businesses, health organizations and retailers interested in participating.
The expo’s size could offer smaller local companies valuable access to potential customers while giving attendees an opportunity to discover services they may not normally encounter at a traditional gym or fitness event.
Organizers have not yet released the complete exhibitor lineup, class schedule or list of live demonstrations. Those announcements are expected as the event approaches.
The Upstate Fit Fest & Wellness Expo will take place May 22–23, 2027, at the M&T Bank Center, 101 Harborside Drive in Schenectady. Additional attendee information and vendor applications are available through the event’s official website.
