Best places to stay according to JMA
Club Quarters
Club Quarters is a reputable mid-scale hotel chain known for its guaranteed cleanliness and top-notch service. With convenient locations across Manhattan, including Lower Manhattan and Times Square, Club Quarters offers a range of accommodation options from twin to king bed rooms to larger scale suites.
The ultra-modern and comfortable rooms provide ample space for guests, with some even featuring convenient kitchenettes. During our visit for the NYC marathon in 2018, we were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of our Times Square accommodation, easily accommodating four adults. Prices for rooms at Club Quarters typically range from $180 to $500 per night, ensuring a comfortable stay without breaking the bank.
The West Side YMCA
Located in an unconventional setting, this hidden gem is a must-visit for any adventurer. Our personal experiences have led us to believe that this accommodation is perfect for traveling athletes. Your stay includes access to a comprehensive gym, a relaxing sauna, a well-maintained basketball court, and well-equipped boxing and martial arts studios, among other amenities.
However, it’s important to note that the living quarters are quite modest, resembling a simple jail cell, and you will likely be utilizing a shared bathroom and shower facilities. On the bright side, all of this comes at a remarkable value, costing only $85 to $150 depending on the timing of your booking. Don’t miss out on this extraordinary opportunity to enjoy top-notch amenities at an affordable price.
The Kimberly Hotel
A super posh hotel with a massive aquarium center piece in its lobby will awe you the moment you walk in. The balcony room we booked boasted a luxurious waterfall shower and a jacuzzi tub, presenting an exquisite experience. However, we refrained from indulging in the in-room bar due to its hefty price.
Additionally, this location features an in-house restaurant on the first floor, and a rooftop bar which can be rented, as we discovered while trying to grab a drink. If you plan to stay at this lavish hotel, be prepared to invest a considerable amount, as the room prices range from $330 to a staggering $5500 per night. Yes, you read that correctly.
Best Western Penthouse
Possibly the best deal on this list has to be the Best Western House penthouse apartment. It’s a top floor place to stay, offering a full kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom, and an entire terrace! smaller appartment style rooms are available as well.
This place offers the most space for your buck, and you wouldn’t believe that it averages $400-750 per night depending on the season. You can practically bring the whole crew to the city with this amazing deal! With its ample space and unbeatable price, this penthouse is the perfect choice for a spacious and comfortable stay in the city.
Residence Inn By Marriott Near Bryant Park
Located within walking distance of Grand Central Station, Times Square, and Bryant Park, this spot is perfect for couples who are looking to experience the city. We booked a suite with the kitchenette, and had we not had an additional person with us for our marathon trip, the room would have felt decently spacious. The elevators here can take a minute, especially during busier seasons, but with the price and location, this place is perfect.
If you have a passion for exploring the city and want a central location to come back to, this hotel is an excellent choice. The rooms will run you roughly $200 – $350 per night, which is quite reasonable considering the prime location and the convenience it offers. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway or an adventurous trip to New York City, this hotel provides the ideal base for your urban exploration.
