Hotel Review: Getting cozy at the Homewood Suites by Hilton – Stratford, Connecticut

My recent trip to Homeward Suites by Hilton in Stratford, CT certainly met the standards of making me feel right at home. Upon pulling into the property, you go up a hill shrouded with trees around it, giving you a very private and quiet facility to feel welcome to. I was greeted swiftly by a friendly worker at the front desk who made my day by allowing me to check in a little early after a long morning of travel.

Upon entering the room, I was welcomed to a clean and spacious Queen Studio Suite. The Suite featured a kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher, and sink with garbage disposal. The cabinets and drawers were also fully stocked with dishes and silverware.

There was a small desk to allow you to do get some work done while away from home, as well as an additional table which seems handy if you planned on preparing your own meals while in the room. There was a small living space which featured a pull-out sofa, a footrest, and a small table if you choose to eat while you watch the flat screen (which I took full advantage of).

There was 1 Queen-sized bed as indicated by the room name. The bed was really comfortable and the linens seemed very fresh. There was a side table on either side of the bed which allowed for extra storage space, as well as nice place to charge up your phone at night. There was also a decent sized dresser in the room of which I only ended up using 1/4 of the a drawer of the 3 provided.

Laundry room

One thing I really liked about the room is that the vanity was separate from the actually bathroom. This allowed me plenty of space to put my things and get ready in the morning without feeling cramped. The bathroom was clean and decent sized. There was also a closet across from the vanity for additional space. Overall, the room was very welcoming, clean, and spacious at 350 square-feet.

The amenities that the hotel provided were decent as well. There’s an indoor pool with plenty of windows to provide natural sunlight. There was also a 24-hour fitness center that was more spacious than many of the fitness centers I’ve seen at previous hotels. There was also a laundry room that had a ping-pong table in case you wanted to have some fun and pass some time while you waited for your laundry.

The lobby featured a lovely seating area inside, as well as a deck on the outside that provided additional seating as well as a BBQ area. The breakfast that was provided with the stay was definitely one of the better breakfasts that I’ve seen offered at a hotel. There was also a store in the lobby next to the front desk that offered a variety of foods and beverages in case you wanted a late-night snack.

Highlights: The room was welcoming, spacious, and accommodated everything I needed during my stay. The staff was incredibly friendly, and even called me a couple of hours after check-in just to confirm that I was comfortable and that my room was acceptable. The hotel is also pet friendly, I was able to visit with a couple of dogs and even seen a few people bringing their cats in with them!

The only minor (and I mean minor) inconveniences that I had were:
1) The hallways are incredibly long. If you happen to be stay towards the end of either side (which I did), it is a pretty decent walk down the hall from the elevator/lobby area to get to your room, particularly when you are carrying all of your luggage.

2) I did not see one ice machine on any floor in any section of the hotel. There may have been an ice machine, but none that were easily noted or accessible, and I can confirm that there was not any on my floor.
