The last race in our 29.3 mile challenge from A.R.E Race Productions in the Capital District.
Runners will enjoy scenic views of the old Erie canal system, The Mohawk river, as well as the locks, and historical stockade neighborhood of Schenectady. This run might as well come with a guided audio of the area, because each part you’ll run through has a rich and deep cultural history to the area.

When getting to Mabee Farm off I-890, you simply want to exit on to 5S/Rotterdam Junction. You can park at Mabee Farm, but it’s recommended you get the bus with your admission, as parking is limited, the lots didn’t take long to fill up.
- Day of pick up starts at 7am at the Mabee Farm, you do have options to pick up earlier.
- Bag check is available, and will send your things off to the finish line for easy pick up.
- Shirts and hats are available at registration for an extra charge
Miles on the Mohawk follows the Mohawk Hudson bike trail for most of the course, but starts for a mile on 5S before hitting the trail for 8 miles, and a mile in the historic Schenectady Stockade before finishing in the Schenectady Mohawk harbor. The course is mainly flat with minor dips and inclines, a good introduction for a beginner to a 10 mile race.
There are three official spectator zones but several areas to watch from, Kiwanis Park, Lock 8, Campbell Ave. entrance to Mohawk Hudson bike trail, Riverside Park and Schenectady County Community College, though parking at some of these may be difficult to reach.

Water stations were provided at the official spector zones located at Kiwanis Park, Lock 8, and SCCC entrance to the Mohawk Hudson bike trail.

The harbor is going to be packed coming into the finish line, with people on each side. While the number of runners isn’t super large for the event with 600-800 estimated runners each year, it fills up the harbor pretty quick.
With a free beer and band included at the finish you may even end up staying a bit longer than anticipated.
Don’t forget to grab your food included in your race, and rehydrate at the end with provided water, sandwiches, and a good ol NY apple.

All in all this race was easy, fun and eventful. Taking runners along picturesque views of the old canal and river, offering the perfect finish to the 29.3 challenge.
