Troy Turkey Trot

The Troy Turkey Trot is a Capital Region of NY event that pulls in over 4000 runners each year. The race takes place Thanksgiving day morning and is hosted by Pioneer bank and the City of Troy. The race is the 12th oldest in the country and the 64th oldest in the world, making it a “must run” race.

Troys Turkey Trot offers both 10k & 5k options to runners, as well as costume contests to participate in! Keep in mind you can do both the 10k & 5k races on the same day, this is something I recently found out myself and am excited to start doing each year!

Don’t worry about the course either, it is a flat course going straight along the Hudson River. Do dress for wind though, as the the race is often a tad cool and windy. Last year in 2018, I remember it being the coldest on record, and pulling one of my best times on that race. So just remember to come prepared.
If your coming from out of state or town I recommend Tru by Hilton located at Crossgates, with a beautiful new space near plenty of entertainment. The race rates start at $20 for both the 10k & 5k runs, I highly recommend doing both as the time between is perfect for a cool down making it an easy challenge.
