“Experience the Toughest Race in Central Park: Gretes Great Gallop – A Battle Against the Hills!”

Gretes Great Gallop is another legacy race to memorialize Grete, another influential Runner who left a lasting impact on New York Road Runners through her achievements and charitable donations. Grete is also a 5-time winner of the NYC 10k Mini, which the Central Park course for the day is designed after. The money raised from this event goes to funding physical fitness as preventative and treatment care for cancer victims. AKTIV has currently raised over 3 million so far.

The course is riddled with hills and may have been one of the hardest in central park to date, forcing you up and down Harlem Hill, three sisters, and cat hill. The race starts about 69th street and makes its way around the ted Corbitt loop. If possible it is highly recommended that you practice this course at least once before the race because of the intensity of the hills.
A grand total of 6533 runners took to the streets for this event, with only 1796 non NYC runners. The top male runner for this race pulled off a 32:35 pace, and the top female finished in 36:31.
