Grete was Great at Gallop-ing
Gretes Great Gallop is another legacy race from NYRR to memorialize Grete, another influential Runner who left a lasting impact on New York Road Runners through her achievements and charitable donations.

Grete is also a 5-time winner of the NYC 10k Mini, which the Central Park course for the day is designed after.
The money raised from this event goes to funding physical fitness as preventative and treatment care for cancer victims.
AKTIV has currently raised over 3 million so far.

Getting to Gretes Great Gallop
Taking the “C” line and cutting straight across is going to be the quickest way to race central, remember to arrive early and warm up.
While day of bib pick up is available, it is recommended you do so the days preceding the race at the NYRRย RUNCENTER ย 320 West 57th Street (between Eighth and Ninth avenues)ย
The Gallop to come
The course is riddled with hills and may have been one of the hardest in central park to date, forcing you up and down Harlem Hill, three sisters, and cat hill.
The race starts about 69th street and makes its way around the ted Corbitt loop. If possible it is highly recommended that you practice this course at least once before the race because of the intensity of the hills.
Great Amenities
Fortunately Runners will have multiple opportunities to refresh on Gatorade and water at the several stations along the course, some of these stations are also equipped with toilets as well. however if you need medical you will need to flag down a volunteer/staff, as the only med tent is located at “race central”.
Gretes Great Gallop’s “Race Central” will include most of what you need post and pre race, including bib pick up, bag check, medical, lost and found, toilets, post race events, and Food!

A grand total of 6533 runners took to the streets for Gretes Great Gallop in 2022, with only 1796 non NYC runners, Myself included!
The top male runner for this race pulled off a 32:35 pace, and the top female finished in 36:31.
This race is a 9+1 qualifier if you are looking to run in a future NYC Marathon!
