What Prompted the Fight?

Mark Zuckerberg is the founder, chairman and CEO of Meta which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. A news article was recently posted about the upcoming release of a new Meta platform, Threads, which will serve as a competitor to Twitter.

Upon hearing this news, Musk had poked fun at the idea on Twitter, in which a fan warned Musk that Zuckerberg knows Jiu-Jitsu now. This of course prompted Musk to respond that he was up for a cage match if Zuckerberg is. Zuckerberg has accepted Musk’s challenge, and the two leaders of two major social media platforms are discussing the next steps to make this happen.

What Do We Know About the Fight?

After the internet exploded on speculation of whether or not the fight would take place, it seems that Dana White, President of the UFC, has been in contact with both of our potential competitors. Dana White claims in an interview that both Musk and Zuckerberg are 100% serious and on board with the fight, and Dana is 100% on board with organizing and hosting the event. There is no date or timeline put in place at this time as to when the fight may occur. We do not know how much time will be needed and/or requested for training prior to the fight taking place.

Do Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk Have Any Fighting Experience?

Mark Zuckerberg has been consistently training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Dave Camarillo for roughly over a year now. Zuckerberg recently competed in a BJJ competition in Redwood City, California, taking Gold against Hanamantha Raju in the no-Gi white belt 149-pound division, and taking Silver in a Gi category on the same day. From what it seems, Zuckerberg is a quick learner and his coach speaks very highly about his combative abilities.

Elon Musk trained when he was younger in taekwondo, judo, and Kyokushin karate. More recently, he has also trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but he has not been consistent with his training. However, Musk has had some very unique experiences in fighting. He was known to have fought a Sumo wrestler for fun at one of his prior birthday parties, and managed to lift the 350lb Sumo wrestler off the ground while injuring his own back in the process. Musk has also had his fair share of physical confrontations while living in South Africa as a child.
